“Excess of anything is bad”
One
Saturday got some time to skim through the newspaper, when I came across an
article about ‘current era’ becoming more-n-more of techno freak, considering
it to be smart enough to make a notable place in the society.
Initially
it had an impression of an in-thing in the market, making easier for people to
connect; locate the lost contacts and many more. However over the period of
time seeing its high usage resulting in a bad health in all the means, physically
as well as mentally made me give it a second thought to have them as an
integral part of our lives.
People,
for a while few questions have been popping up in my mind such as, Do you all
really think so? Has it become must to have ‘smartphone’, ‘tablets’? Isn’t it
building a gap between relations? Isn’t it increasing anxiety, curiosity, and
expectation among us? Post doing a brainstorming session with myself have come
to terms that it’s making all of us overdependent of the hi-tech gadgets by
making us anti-social. No denial mode from me that indeed these gadgets are
great relief in today’s hectic schedules. People considering to spent more time
with their respective gadgets than their family & friends is alarming. In actual
I know people who feels therapeutic after playing games on mobile / tablets
/laptops; chatting on Whats App or social media from a stressful life, and I am
no different from them as well.
I
feel that being techno-savvy is good to a limit beyond the thin line, things
are becoming difficult for people to handle. People being glued with their
gadgets are leading to boredom; becoming self-centric; scrolling the screen for
hours-n-hours, developing a high expectation
from others to revert on every messages; sending invites on Whats App;
wishing birthday / anniversaries on a social media and many more such
activities. I believe time & effort are being put in to be an unproductive
rather than utilizing the time ideally for resulting in a field day. However health
issues occurring due to it is disturbance in sleep; anxiety, loneliness.
Let’s
take a pledge to limit are usage and start calling close ones, and feel the
same old warmth.
